Xpace has submitted their long-anticipated full carbon clincher wheelset, code name Xi Shan (West Mountain in honor of the local mountain where test development was performed) to the 2009 Eurobike Show Awards committee.
Over 2 years in development under the direction of technical consultant, Paul Farrell of Leggera Technologies International, in collaboration with Xpace R&D wheel rims team specialists. The rim features many innovative materials never before used in a wheel rim, together with the Patented SAT (Spoke Anchor Technique) hole-less bridge technology, and true-angle spoke drilling.
This project brings together specialist carbon manufacturers from two continents – each recognized leaders in their own fields. The resultant, technically complex, rim structure is a world first in terms of low weight, stiffness and performance. Test data verifies that this 420gm 40mm clincher rim is significantly stiffer, stronger and more durable than other 500+gm rims currently available.
After a year of in-house and road testing in China, and more than 3000Km of professional rider testing in the mountains of Switzerland, the Xi Shan rim will make it’s debut at Eurobike 2009.
Production is schedule to commence in December, 2009
